NIPBA Veterans Section hold Finals Day at Portglenone Bowling Club

Finals Day at Portglenone Bowling Club on Thursday 11th September.

The first Final of the day was the Rinks Competition which commenced at 10.00am.

Harry Elliott (Dunluce) skipped one Rink which included Roy Calvin, Sam McMath and Eddie Beverland. Jim Cambell (City of Derry) skipped the other Rink which included Harold Moore, William Taylor and Uel Galbraith.

This was a fantastic game to watch with an exciting finish. The winning Rink was decided by a measure in the final end with Jim Campbell and his Rink winning the game.

The afternoon session commenced at 2.00pm with the finals of the Singles, Pairs, Triples and Plate Competitions.

The Singles Competition was won by Sam Corscadden (Limavady) with Robert Steven (Castlerock) the runner-up.

The Pairs Competition was won by Eddie Beverland and Harry Elliott (Dunluce) with Clifford McLernon and Uel McCloy (Portrush) the runners-up.

The Triples Competiton was won by Owen Caufield, Victor Callaghan and Jackie Hutchinson (Castlerock) with William McIlroy, Sam McMath and Eddie Armstrong (Dunluce) the runners-up.

The Plate Competition was won by William Taylor, Uel Galbraith and Jim Campbell (City of Derry) with Jim Lees, Tommy McCormack and John Graham (Brookgreen) the runners-up.

The players, Officials and friends were invited into Portglenone Clubhouse following the games by Club President Jim Gaul. A lovely meal was provided which was followed by the presentations of Trophies and medals.

A special word of thanks must go to Kiernan Adams and the other members of Portglenone Club who worked hard all day to ensure that the Finals day event was a success.

The AGM of the NIPBA Veterans Section will take place on Thursday 23rd October 2014 at Limavady Bowling Club commencing at 10.30am.
