No way back in the Sam Rutherford for locals

BANBRIDGE lost to Silverwood in round three of the Sam Rutherford Cup.

It was a clear-cut victory for the Craigavon team. They won the first leg by an amazing 26 holes up. Realistically, there was no way back for Tom Mulholland’s team.

But, all credit to them, they came out last Sunday and gave a very commendable performance.

Keith Steenson and Gary McCartney showed just how good they were by winning 6 holes up.

Brian Mulholland and Peter Hillen used all their experience to win 4 holes up.

Nigel Bryson and William Malcolmson combined nicely to win by 3 holes up.

Team captain, Tom Mulholland, was paired with young Josh Lockhart and they finished all square.

So Banbridge won their home leg by 13 holes up. Under normal circumstances, that would be a brilliant result. Unfortunately, the score from the first leg wasn’t normal, and Banbridge are out.

But, at the end of the day, it’s only a game of golf and nobody got hurt.

Silverwood are a club on the up. They have had some great results, highlighted by reaching the semi-final of the Ulster Cup. We wish them continued success.
