Noble does Larne AC proud at Minnowburn 10k event

The race started and finished on the Mary Peters track in Belfast.

The course was set in Minnowburn Park, which is a scenic route along the banks of the Lagan.

Noble finished in eighth place in a time of 40:44 - an outstanding performance considering he had ran 18 miles the evening before as part of his training for London Marathon.

On Sunday Larne AC’S Martin Agnew travelled to Athlone’s AIT Indoor Arena to compete in The Leinster Championships.

Agnew, who recently returned to competition after a period of injury, was fresh from victory at the Antrim parkrun eight days earlier. He completed the 800m event in a time 2:05. It was his first track outing since the age of 14, and he plans to work towards his season goal of a sub-two minute time over the distance.

Carrick is the latest town to host its own parkrun. In the inaugural race, Larne AC had two runners taking part with Robin Alexander finishing in 27:37 and Lyndsey Dillon achieving a 5k personal best of 28:35.

Eight runners returned again for Saturday’s event and tackled the twisty course in blustery conditions.

Paul Tilson was first home, completing the course in 21:29, followed hot on his heels by Dan Magill who finished in 21:49.

Ian Brennan was next in 22, with Kirsty Sharratt finishing as first female in 22:14. John Wright had a great run completed the race in 22:42, while Ruth Wilson(inset) also ran strongly to finish in 23:33.

Kellie Connor and Clare McGuinness completed the Larne contingent, both running well to finish in 26:23 and 28:47, respectively.

At the Larne parkrun, Glenn Mann represented the club and continued his improvement with another personal best, finishing in 25:41.
