A ‘fair cop’ for duo

TWO car thieves were caught in what was described as ‘a fair cop’ in 1991.

Walking along Shankill Street they noticed that the lock on a car door was damaged.

And when they found the keys in the ignition they succumbed to the temptation to take the vehicle.

The owner, when he found the car missing, went to report the matter, accompanied by his daughter.

On their way they saw the car being driven by the two youths.

The daughter stood in front of the car while the father got it, ordered the two culprits into the back and promptly drove them to the police.

In court their solicitor described the incident as ‘a fair cop.’
