A novel way to get a mobile CB

And one young man came up with an unusual method of staying mobile while chatting on his radio,

Seventeen year old Tom Maguire, from Clarendon Park, Maralin, hitched his rig up to his push bike.

As ingenious as they come he decided to attach his rig to an ancient hunk of scrap he found rotting at the bottom of the garden.

Tom was just picking up the rudiments of welding so he fashioned a makeshift mount out of metal, tacked it over the rear mudguard, hooked up a battery and connected his 40 channel FM rig.

Surprisingly it worked first time and Tom took to the highways and byways near the Maralin home.

Tom, known as ‘Rubber Eel’ in CB parlance said: “I thought it would be a good idea but people still don’t believe me when I tell them my rig is on a push bike.”

CB had a tendency to take over people’s lives and Tom agreed.

When his rig was out of commission due to an electrical fault he found it impossible to get to sleep as he was so used to chatting away into the early hours of the morning.

“The best thing about CB,” he said, “is that it gets you to sleep at night. I just couldn’t doze off without using the rig before I go to bed.”
