An Economic boost from Europe
In October 1985 over £1 million in European aid was allocated to projects in the Lisburn borough and surrounding areas.
Among the Lisburn companies to benefit were Circuits and Systems Design Ltd in Market Square, who received £24,300 for the manufacture of an electrical power monitor-recorder. Roads, electrical and water schemes in the borough also benefitted from European cash, with £255,000 poured into the extension of vocational training facilities at Nutts Corner.
