Brownlow disco proves to be a flop

A new disco for teenagers in Brownlow in 1980 proved to be a flop.

Stevie’s Boogiewonderland opened its doors on a Saturday night.

With press coverage and a series of posters throughout the Craigavon area it was thought a sizeable crowd would gather.

But at the eight o’clock starting time, with the music blaring out and the lights flashing, the organisers waited in vain.

During the entire evening only 38 teenagers came through the doors.

“It was all very disappointing,” said a spokesman. “The teenagers continually complain they have nothing to do.

“Yet when we take the trouble to arrange and advertise an evening disco they let us down.”
