Henry McMurran, Councillor Stewart noted, was the first naval man from Carrickfergus to be lost during the Great War after the cruiser HMS Cressy was torpedoed by German U-Boat U-9 in the North Sea.

Councillor Stewart is compiling a book about Carrickfergus soldiers who served during the Great War and the picture was passed on to for inclusion by Councillor Billy Hamilton, a grand nephew of Mr McMurran.
