Chickens die in crash

TRAFFIC was disrupted for nearly four hours when a trailer containing 3,000 live chickens overturned in Church Place.

A LARGE number of the birds died as a result of the crash.

The lorry, owned by Moy Park, Moira, was travelling up Edward Street into Church Place when the trailer struck the kerb of a rose-bed traffic island and went on its side.

Police were promptly on the scene to control traffic and within a short space of time two breakdown trucks arrived.

After about three hours with the aid of these trucks and jack, the trailer was righted.
