Conradh na Gaelige in 1985

The popularity of the Irish language was increasing all the time in 1985.

And Lurgan was playing an important part in its revival. The Conradh na Gaelige met in North Street in the Aras na Gaelige. One of the committee members was local solicitor Paul Haughey. People from all walks of life were able to learn the language from proficient speakers. Pictured here is Paul Haughey with the Gaelic League’s Bun Rang, the first year adult class.
