Constable’s homewas castle rock

Carrick Borough Council was to investigate the possibility of using a bricked up tunnel entrance in rock below the castle as accommodation for the harbour constable in October 1965.

Meanwhile, the police had been informed of two hoax calls to the local fire brigade.

The East Antrim Times reported that one of these calls had been made from a telephone booth outside the Rinkha Ballroom, in Islandmagee.

The second involved the Fire Brigade being called to a residential property at Edenvale Avenue only to find no fire.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire Authority said that it cost the authority £20 for each call.
