Do you remember when . . . ‘Blackspot’ dangers on Larne’s roads

Larne Borough Council’s Road Safety Committee discussed a number of road accident “blackspots” which had been identified around the borough in August 1965.

Among those highlighted was the railway bridge at Coastguard Road.

Councillor J Workman requested white lines to be painted along the middle of the road.

Sergeant McCutchen, from Larne Police, said that he would arrange with the borough council’s surveyor to carry out the project.

According to Councillor R Kane, traffic travelling between the AEI factory and the abattoir was “a danger to pedestrians”.

He called for a footpath to be provided as soon as possible.
