Faithful pets church service in Larne

There was an unusual church service in Larne in November 2000.

St Cedma’s Parish Church held a service of thanksgiving for pets and their owners.

The service was organised by the Larne branch of the USPCA.

Mrs Dorothy Thompson, Chairman of the Larne branch of the USPCA said: “I thought a pet service would be a fitting tribute to the people who have supported the work of the USPCA and to the pets which are such faithful companions.

“We invite dogs on leads, cats in baskets and small animals in their cages to come along with their owners,” she said.

The Larne branch was famous for the way in which it cared for animals in the region. In particular, the branch cared for many horses.
