Fountain Family Trail
Heritage hunters, with ancestry rooted in Londonderry’s Fountain area, are invited to attend the ‘Fountain Family Trail’, which will take place in the Thiepval Gallery, George’s Street, off Wapping Lane, from August 8 to 10 August.
The three-day event, which will run between 10am and 4pm daily, forms part of the Holywell Trust’s ‘Diversecity’ programme, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and focuses on communities around the historic walls of Derry/Londonderry. Local historians, and researchers on the programme, Trevor Temple and Marie-Claire Peters, will be in attendance, and will hopefully be able to steer people in the right direction seeking information on family origins. The ‘Trail’ has come about as a result of research into a planned new book on the Fountain by Trevor Temple.
Mr Temple is especially keen for people with photographs, stories or memorabilia associated with the historic district to attend.
