Great Dane a champion
A Great Dane belonging to Lurgan woman Madge Johnston swept the boards at the Irish Great Dane Championship Show in Kildare in 1975.
She won Reserve Best of Show, a Green Star, three first prizes, two cups and a trophy.
Two and a half year old Kate was bred at the world famous Sherain Great Dane Kennels at Darlington in England.
Standing almost three feet tall, Kate ate an average of two pounds of meat per day.
