In 'bad company'

A DERRYMACASH man was fined for driving up the road to get a TV set in February 1970.

He was fined on three charges of driving without 'L' plates while he was holding a provisional licence, being unaccompanied by a qualified driver and for having a defective front tyre.

When he was stopped, the man said: "I only went up the road to get a TV set." He was stated to have four previous convictions for not having insurance and one for joy-riding.

The Magistrate said: "You and cars just seem to be bad company for one another."
