Larne Main Street had a petrol filling station

Larne gasworks was purchased by funeral director John McConnell in November 1965.

Development of the Main Street site commenced with the removal of the gasometer and remaining gasworks equipment before construction of a new headquarters for the funeral and taxi business.

Mr. McConnell said that he planned to build a petrol filling station and garage for housing vehicles which would be open by May 1966.
