Larne student gets creative

A student from Larne reached the finals of a technology competition in October 1995.

David McNeill, a pupil from Larne High School reached the finals of the Roland Technology Creativity Award.

The gifted student was heading to the finals which were due to take place in Southampton on October 14.

David had designed an electronic air freshener which turned itself off after a pre-set time.

The device was fan assisted.

Meanwhile, other students from Larne High School were taking part in the Crest Award Scheme at the same time.

The award scheme was introduced in September 1994, and awarded creativity, perseverance and application in science and technology. It was open for pupils aged 11-18.
