Lee Lawson, of Annaghanoon Road, impressed the judges, at the World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, so much that her 20 rivals in the under 15 section did not count in the final result.

Not only was she the youngest drummer to win the title in the juvenile section she was also the youngest person from the province to take the world championship after only four years in drumming.

Parents Samuel and Margaret Lawson and sister Kim (10) were delighted with Lee’s success. “It was an emotional day,” said Margaret.
