Looking back... Freight train lost its trucks

The 3.30pm freight train had been en route to Carrickfergus with a delivery of sulphur.

However, just six wagons remained attached and the others were found to have become separated.

It is understood that they became detached after a drawbar had broken.

A spare engine came to the rescue and nudged the runaway trucks to Greenisland Railway Station to be rejoined to the train.

The wagon which had caused the trouble was left in a siding.
