Nostalgia: Stalwart retires from Salvation Army

Jenni Power retired in 1997 after 30 years in charge of the Salvation Army singing company.

The Waringstown stalwart had led a group of young people, aged from seven to 17, each Sunday for all those years at their worship services in Union Street.

Many young people had been members and according to their ages and abilities, were trained by Jenni in singing, presentation, diction and up to four part harmony songs.

“I have enjoyed every part of my work with young people in the local Salvation Army corps in helping them to develop musically and spiritually and to have a love for God and people,” said Jenni.
