Nostalgia: Tracy has brainwave to write to ambassadors

Given a school project in 1996 on Christmas in other countries ten-year-old Tracy Matthews from Lurgan had a brainwave and decided to write directly to their ambassadors.

Her approach certainly paid off and she received greetings and gifts from over 30 countries.

Tracy, from the Wood Lane, produced ‘Tracy’s Christmas Project’ a colourful compilation explaining how Christmas was celebrated from here to Australia. She received books, greeting cards, maps and decorations and even a genuine papyrus desktop calendar from the Egyptian ambassador.

“It took me ages but I like getting post and some of it was really interesting,” said Tracy.

She is pictured here with some of the items she received.
