operations cancelled amid flu outbreak

Routine operations were cancelled at Lagan Valley Hospital as the new year of 1999 dawned amid an outbreak of flu and other winter illnesses.

The Lisburn hospital was reportedly instructed to suspend non-urgent surgery to leave beds available for an anticipated upsurge in emergency admissions. a spokesman said all the operations cancelled would be rescheduled

Hopefully, they said, there would be minimal undue inconvenience.
