There was success for some young local pipers and drummers in October 1984.

The young musicians from Mossley Primary School and Monkstown Community School achieved remarkable success in their exams, the 1984 Northern Ireland Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association exams.

Out of the 30 pupils from the local schools who took the exams, 26 of them passed the exams with the Scottish instruments with flying colours.
