Referee calls it a day after24 years

LURGAN referee Tommy Mitchell retired in 1966 after 24 years as the man in the middle.

And the 52 year old said: “I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ll certainly miss the game.”

Tommy had a great deal of experience him before he started refereeing.

He played for no less that five Irish League clubs - Distillery, Linfield, Glentoran, Glenavon and Portadown.
