Sisters make a name for themselves

Two former Lurgan teenage sisters were making quite a name for themselves in 1977 in the world of glamour in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).

Seventeen-year-old Pauline O’Hagan and her sister, 14-year-old Noeleen were both chosen as ‘Queens’ in a beauty competition organised by their High School. Pauline, pictured on the left, was chosen as Queen of the senior section while Noeleen was crowned Queen of the junior section.

The girls’ parents were Joseph and Bernadette (nee Lavery) O’Hagan, formerly of Church Place, Lurgan. Because of their success a picture of the sisters was featured on the front of one of Rhodesia’s daily papers.
