Taghnevan man wins at dog show

THIS WEEK in 1983 Billy Creaney, a Taghnevan man from Monbrief Walk, brought his dogs down to one of Ireland’s largest shows.

His prized pedigree fox terrier Taghnevan’s Girl excelled herself claiming the Green Star Bitch and Best of Breed honours at the RDS Championship in Ballsbridge, Dublin.

His second dog Taghnevan “He’s a Cracker“ also took top prize in his section of the show.

A few days later after the Dublin show, Billy travelled to Belfast with his dog for the Ulster Fox Terrier Show where they again maintained their standards and won three first prizes.

At the time Billy was involved in dog breeding for eight years.

Billy won prizes that would have done the top men at the craft proud, proving that Lurgan breeders had what it took to make an impression.
