Windbreaks needed for pool

According to the Larne Times, the proposal was given “sympathetic consideration” by Whitehead Urban Council in 1961.

However, the question of storms arising during the month of April whilst the pool was being cleaned was discussed.

The council estimated the cost of providing canvas wind breaks to be approximately £90.

Meanwhile, the council counted the cost of savings which could be made by turning off the water supply to Whitehead Railway Station at night. The average nightly flow to the building was believed to be 1,800 gallons.
