Youngster find terrapin

A group of Brownlow youngsters got a little more than they bargained for during a fishing trip to the balancing lakes in 2002.

They found a fully grown terrapin sitting on the shore. Darren and Ruairi McAlinden and Christopher McConville, from Meadowbrook, brought it home.

The boys christened their find ‘Speedy’.

The boys said: “We thought it was a garden ornament until it started moving.”
