Nothing to show for South Ladies

SOUTH LADIES 0 MOSSLEY 1

SOUTH Ladies continued their good form on Saturday against League leaders Mossley but failed to have anything to show for their efforts against a young in form Mossley side.

South started on the attack with Charis Seeds enjoying her new midfield position combining well with Jill Cooper on the right to launch an attack into the Mossley circle through the fast pace of Ruth Young on the right flank only to run into a strong Mossley defence.

Although South continued to exert pressure they were unable to make it count in the circle with Mossley able to clear any threat to their goal. A good chance appeared when the ball hit a Mossley players foot in the circle but South were unable to convert the subsequent short corner. Mossley responded well as a series of attacking moves put the South defence under pressure but good defending by Sarah Neill and Catherine Michaeledes ensured South kept a clean sheet going into the second half.

Mossley continued where they left off and continued to put the South defence under a lot of pressure as Courtney Mills made a number of fine saves. South again tried to push forward through Anna Dornan combining well with Alana Richardson on the left but again the Mossley defence held firm and were able to quickly convert their play back pushing into the South circle. The South defence continued to thwart any attack through the experienced Alison Marsden denying the Mossley forwards and with Jo Clarke in continued fine form kept the Mossley team at bay until they were finally rewarded in the last five minutes to end the match 1 goal to nil. Players of the match were Alison Marsden and Jill Cooper many thanks to Lisburn Racquets Club for sponsoring the match.
