Now a two horse race between INF A and Eire Og

It is now a two horse race after league leaders INF A completed the double over champions Drumgor who tasted defeat for only the second time in over two years to leave six points between the sides.

Eire Og remain in contention in second place after a convincing win over Clann Eireann and both the Celtic and the Stables had comfortable 6-2 wins as the Stables opened up a gap in the battle to get into the top four.

Drumgor 3 INF A 5

Drumgor went into this game knowing only a win would do if they had any ambitions of retaining their title but left disappointed as they fell to their second defeat of the season.

Things started brightly for the hosts as Clive Hanna took the opening match against Dave McCusker and put Drumgor one up. Lee Culbert levelled matters with his seventh win of the season as he beat Paul Beattie 2-0 . The third match seen Mick Millar continuously find the treble 20 as he comfortably took the first leg with double 10 against Eamon Duff. Leg two seen Eamon stay close in the scoring with some steady 100’s and after his third of the leg he was right in it with a chance to level the game up. But with Mick sitting on 126 Eamon was not to be given another chance as a single 19 followed by a treble 19 and a bull was enough to give Mick the win.

Match four seen the two captains go head to head and as always their was nothing between them, but after Seamy missed a number of doubles in the first leg Joe stepped up to hit his first time for the opening leg.

The second leg seen Seamy out score Joe to give him another chance at the doubles and this time there was no mistake as he quickly levelled the match at one each. The deciding leg seen Joe hit a 140 to give him the lead and first shot at the double and he made no mistake to level the match at 2-2.

Despite hitting 3x100’s James Henry couldn’t get a shot at his doubles as Dan Cahoon again proved to be one of the best signings of the season as he had a 180 followed by a 137 to put the INF back in front.

Paul White guaranteed at least a point for the visitors as he took both legs played against Marty Craig hitting a 140 and 4 other ton plus scores to win his two legs in 21 and 22 darts.

Having darts first proved vital as Terry Morrow beat Shane Lennon 2-1 with Shane hitting the second maximum 180 of the night in the second leg with no less than three 140’s and seven further scores of 100+ between them.

Terry took the first leg with double 8 for a 19 dart leg but with the help of his 180 Shane levelled it hitting a superb double 10. Again there was nothing in the third leg but Terry took out 65 in two darts to put the INF A 5-2 up on the night.

The final match Stephen Duff defeated Roy White 2-0 with 2x140s and 2x100’s and legs of 21 and 20 darts.

Eire Og 7

Clann Eireann 1

Eire Og remain in contention for the title as they had a comfortable 7-1 win over Clann Eireann.

Hugh Heaney recorded his seventh win of the league campaign with a 2-1 win over Johnny McAtamney to put Eire Og ahead and it was soon 2-0 as Paul McGahan won both legs played against Gary Hendron.

Last weeks pairs team mates went head to head this week and it was Eire Ogs Mark McLernon who has now 8 wins from 10 as he took the honours over Dermie McStay, with Mark hitting a 21 dart leg to help him to a 2-0 win.

With the returning Mick Hendron getting a walkover win due to the visitors only having seven men it was 4-0 going into the fifth match.

Micky Campbell returned to his old club and left a happy man as a last leg decider win over Niall Heaney give his team their only win of the night and made it 4-1.

Despite winning the last three games it wasn’t plain sailing for the victors as they were pushed all the way.

A 2-0 win for Micky Dunwoodie over Michael Kitching was followed by last leg deciding wins for Paul Callaghan over Chris Magee and an 18 dart leg by individual champion John Cinnamond helped him get his tenth win as he again goes for the perfect season which he did two years ago as he won the last match of the night 2-1 against Mark Magee to complete the 7-1 win overall.

Celtic 6 Trogans

The Celtic recorded their third win of the season with a 6-2 win over the Trojans.

Martin Haddock’s 2-0 win over Paul Lewis gave Celtic the lead. Roger Hare and Caolan Lavery played out a great match hitting no less than seven ton+ scores between them with a 20 dart leg by Caolan helping him take the win by 2-1.

The main highlight of the night was Liz McLoughlin who recorded her first league win when she beat Micky Cahoon in the third and deciding leg to get the Trojans back in the match.

Neil McCluskey extended the Celtic’s lead when he took the deciding leg against Davy Vaughan Sr.

Adrian Hutchinson had a 140 and a 118 as he won both legs against Stuart Matchett in the fifth match but the Trojans weren’t done yet as John McDowell got his third straight win as scores of 140 116 and 2x100’s helped him to a 2-1 win over Andy McConnon.

The captains went head to head next and it was Gerard Crewe who came out on top over Andy Fairbairn as 3x100’s was enough to help him take both legs and give him his sixth win in a row.

Dee McConville made his league debut for the Celtic and impressed as a 180 and 2x140’s helped him record two 22 dart legs as he won 2-1 over Michel Shields.

INF B 2 Stables 6

The Stables moved into third place with a comfortable win over the INF B team with Nathan McCabe taking out a 122 checkout being the highlight of the night as he won his two legs in 18 and 19 darts.

There was also wins for Shane Tallon , Conor Mallon , Michael Lamb , Gary Bell and Nathan Lamb with Dee McCready and Micky McConville being the only victors for the INF B team.
