Now College girls gofor All-Ireland crown

On Wednesday, March 26 the girls will make the journey to St. Andrews College Dublin, as representatives of the province, by virtue of winning the Senior School Cup.

They will take on the winning schools from Leinster, Connaught, Munster and South East.

The tournament takes place over two days, all teams play each other on a league basis with the winner decided on games won, or as happened in 2011, if teams have won an equal number of games, the team with the greatest goal difference is crowned All-Ireland champions.

As current holders of the competition Lurgan College are up first on day one against Munster representatives Crescent Comprehensive (9.30am).

They will then play finalists from last year, Kilkenny College at 2pm.

On Friday they face Salerno from Connaught at 12.30pm and the final match will see them face host school and Leinster champions - St Andrews College at 3.30pm.

Having won this title twice since 2011, the College team has recent experience of this level of competition, but know the task ahead will be tough, with other seasoned winners challenging for the trophy.

If the College team were to retain the trophy , they would equal Royal School Armagh as the school with the most wins since the competition began.

Currently RSA have 4 All-Ireland titles and Lurgan College 3 (having also won in 2003), an impressive tally for 2 small Mid-Ulster schools.
