NWLGA Captain's Day held at Portstewart GC

The Lady Captain of the North West Ladies' Golfing Alliance, Mrs Brenda Strain, held her Captain's day at Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 22nd March.

Seeventy-seven ladies played in fine, calm conditions which was reflected in the good scoring.

The AGM was followed by an excellent dinner and then Brenda presented the winners with their prizes.

Hazel Henderson from Royal Portrush emerged the overall winner and won the Captain’s Prize with 38 points.

Section A was won by Kate Mark (Castlerock) with 35 points, in second place was Carrie Turner (RPGC) with 34 points over Mary Glover (Portstewart) on a better back 9 and Ina Bratton (Portstewart) was fourth with 33 points.

Heather Todd (Castlerock) won the front 9 with 20 points and Nicki Smyth (RPGC) won the back 9 with 20 points.

Section B winner was Pauline Agnew (Portstewart) with 33 points, Louie Fillis (Portstewart) was second with 32 points over Julie Irwin (RPGC); Pat McConnell (Killymoon) was 4th also with 32 points.

The front 9 was won by Pat Brockerton (Castlerock) with 20 points and Helen McLaughlin (Portstewart) won the back 9 with 17 points.

There were four 2s: Nicki Smyth (two 2s), Amanda Carson and Alex McCarter all from RPGC. Nearest the pin was won by Helen Jones (RPGC) and the longest drive was won by Hazel Henderson (RPGC). Well done on another successful season.
