O’Connor vists Loughgiel Shamrocks

Christy O’Connor recently visited Loughgiel Shamrocks and put the senior players through their paces. The large turnout of players absorbed everything O’Connor passed on to them and will put it into practice at the first opportunity.

Following the coaching session Team Manager PJ O’Mullan JNR commented: “On behalf of Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC and the senior players I would like to thank Christy O’Connor for the coaching and knowledge he provided over the weekend.

“Christy is a renowned GAA reporter and goalkeeping coach and has written several good books on the GAA and is a brother of legendary Clare hurler Jamsie O’Connor. The two sessions that he took on Sunday and Monday were of the highest quality and I am sure that everyone who took part or watched the sessions will surely have learned something new to take forward.

“I know from watching and talking to the goalkeepers and players being trained that they got a lot from their sessions. Christy’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the game was evident in the way he delivered his session and how he talked to the players and coaches.

“We would be hopeful that at sometime in the future that Christy will be able to return to Loughgiel with his family and spend more time in the parish, something he said he would love to do.

“I would like to thank all the other players and coaches from all the other age groups in both hurling and camogie who availed of the chance to watch the sessions. I hope you got something from it to take to your respective team.”
