O’Gara leads Sperrin home

EIGHT Sperrin Harriers athletes made the trip to Strabane for there annual 10k road race.

With a 12-00 start the Harriers were on the road early for the race and with good weather conditions and a good course our athletes were looking for good times.

As the race headed out through the town and into the countryside and at 2K Sean O’Gara and Martin Loughlin were running togather with the first of our ladies Pauline McGurrin hot on there heels with Paul McLaughlin chasing hard next was David O’Brien and Connor Henry, with Ryan Trainor just behind them, then our next lady Natasha Henry.

As the runners reached the halfway mark Sean had pulled away from Martin with Paul just behind him, but Pauline was losing a wee bit of ground and Connor was working his way through the large field,Ryan was next having passed David who at this stage was limping badly and things were looking bad for him, with Natasha was looking to run a good second half.

But it was the ever improving Sean that was the first Harrier to cross the line in a great time of 39-56 with Paul not far behind in 40-04 and finished 2nd O/45 then Martin in 40-52, with Connor in 41-35, Pauline in a great time of 41-37 ,with Ryan next in 42-14 then Natasha 49-44, David O’Brien finished the race but did’t take a time, Great running everyone
