Ogilby helps Athletic make their mark

Inver Athletic 3

Woodside 0

INVER collected their first win of the season on Saturday.

The first half was end-to-end with both teams failing to convert chances.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men after Burke and Millar were given straight reds on the half-hour after a scuffle in the box.

In the second half, Inver started to press and found spaces in the Woodside defence.

The opening goal came from Lee Ogilby – a 25-yard effort that sailed over the stranded keeper. As if that wasn’t good enough, he added an equally impressive second from distance that found the top corner.

Inver’s defence stood firm against a mini-Woodside onslaught.

Woodside were then reduced to nine men after an off-the-ball incident, leaving them stretched for Inver to add a third goal through Cheung.

Inver hit the post before Whyte had a chance to add a fourth, lobbing the advancing keeper, only to see the ball bounce and hit the bar.

Gary Blair beat off the strong challenge of defensive stalwart Sloan and two-goal man Ogilby for Inver’s man of the match. Next week Inver are away in the league to Galgorm.
