O'Hara cues up for Championship

BUDDING pool player Ciaran O'Hara racked up an impressive quarter-final place at the recent All-Ireland Intervarsities Snooker and Pool Competition, held in Dundalk.

The 21-year-old was representing North West Regional College, where he is currently undertaking the Higher National Diploma in Architectural Technology.

The Greysteel student took on 230 of the keenest shots in Ireland over a weekend on the baize tables, and was delighted to make it so far through the tight competition, on his third visit to the All-Ireland event.

The annual competition attracts students from Colleges and Universities across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and is one of the highlights in Pool’s competitive calendar.

O’Hara thoroughly enjoyed his previous experiences at the competition, and finds the All-Ireland challenge allows him to continue to improve his skills on the baize tables. North West Regional College’s Willie O’Donnell congratulated Ciaran on his achievement.

“We are thrilled that Ciaran performed so well at the All-Ireland competition – a quarter final place among 230 competitors is a fantastic result, and we’re very proud to have Ciaran representing the College in this sport.”
