O’Neill injury blow

The Whites player, who would be best known for lining out in a full back position for his clubs senior side, was forced to leave the action in the win overt Keady in the recent semi final.

According to St. Peter’s joint manager Davy Greene, his omission is a blow.

“Sean had to leave the action in the semi-final and it turned out his thumb was broken,” said Davy.

“He is a dedicated member of the team and one of our best players, but both the players and management know that he will want us to give Sunday’s final our best shot.”

The Whites overcame Keady last time out in difficult conditions and with the decider again being played in Clonmore the Lurgan sides players will be used to the venue.

Looking forward to the game Davy, who is in charge of the team along with Brian McCabrey said, “All of the amalgamated teams are hard to beat, they can line out the best players from sometimes three clubs, but our lads will be determined to pull out all the stops on Sunday.”

St. Peter’s have strength and mobility throughout their side, Ryan Kelly will join the towering Armagh player Aaron Findon at midfield, and Gavin McCormack who received what appeared to be a harsh black card in the semi -final returns to the action.

Semi-final goalscorer Conor McConville will be joined up front by the probing Fergal Moore and Conor Keegan, and at the back Conleth McAlinden, who was outstanding last time out, will be well supplemented by fellow defenders Alex McCabe and Drew Ginessi.

Greene believes his teams strength on the bench could prove to be crucial.

“One very pleasing aspect of our semi-final win was the way our subs adopted when they came on,” he added.

“At this time of year in particular it is all about the squad, we had lads who were introduced in the semi-final who played really well, but we will need a repeat performance on Sunday,” stressed the whites joint manager.
