Open day at Dojo community facility

Following a successful bid for funding via local council, the recently refurbished Dojo community-based martial arts centre on the Woodside Road are having a fun day on Sept 12th from 12-4 to allow local families to come down and see what the centre has to offer.

The centre has a large number of local children attending the centre already and both the kids and adult class numbers are ever growing. The centre runs as a Community Interest Company and so all the proceeds from the centre goes back into the centre for its members.

There is a great community spirit about the centre with all its members chipping in to help make it a success, and an excellent team of volunteers has been formed as its committee.

Centre manager David Toney says: “This open day is basically to make everyone - perhaps in outlying areas who haven’t yet heard of us - aware of the facility and what use it can be for you.

“Kids will all be heading back to school, so we felt it would be a nice fun event to keep their spirits up before they hit the books again.”
