O’Reillys storm to the top of the Premier Division with win

O’Reillys great form continued and with results elsewhere they stormed to the top of the McLeans bookmakers Premier Division.

This was a clash of two of the joint leaders and may prove to be of great importance.

Colly Wilton got the ball rolling with a hard fought win in the opener.

Stephen Docherty levelled the match in the second, then came a run of three frames on the trot that all went the way of the home side.

Liam Gribben had to pull out all the stops and luck for the season to restore the lead.

Mark Kinneen is the only player in the premier league with a 100% win record this year and he proved just why as when his back was against the wall he ground out a fantastic victory to open up a two frame advantage.

It was the same story for the visitors in frame five as it was a case of missed chances but Michael Ward was deadly and took out an impressive finish to secure at least a point.

Barry Mc Geown was in mighty form and pulled one back for The Coach. Thankfully for the home side Colly and Mark were in no mood to let this one slip and victory was secured in the opening doubles match.

Higgins’ 4 Banbridge Legion 4

Legion found themselves 4 - 1 down at the home of many peoples favouites for the title but dug deep to secure a point.

Tony Greenan gave the home side a perfect start, L Mc Cullagh levelled the match and a tight game looked on the cards.

Higgins’ took the next three frames through Gareth Mc Carten, Moods and Brendan Davis.

Lee Murray pulled a frame back for the Legion but it still meant that the home side only needed one of the doubles matches to join O’Reillys at the top of the table.

The Legion had other ideas and dug deep to pull off an unlikely point and hand the initiative to O’Reillys with only five matches remaining.

Mulhollands 6 Imperial 2

Defending champions Mulhollands are right in there with this result and despite a shaky start to the campaign are only two poins behind O’Reillys and the two meet in the coming weeks.

Market Bar 5 The Castle 3

This result rules out any slim chance the Castle had for honours. S Fitzpatrick gave the Gilford side a perfect start. The Market rattled off the next four frames and the job was complete when W Jess and S Massey took the doubles match.
