STEPHEN Teggart says he feels loved and respected again after his loan move from Glenavon to Armagh City.

The 26-year-old Banbridge man joined the Championship club on deadline day at the end of the summer after he was transfer-listed in a surprise move by Mourneview manager Stephen McDonnell.

The midfielder wasn't able to play against his parent club last week as Armagh dumped Glenavon out of the BetMcLean Cup on penalties in the shock of the second round.

Teggart's currently out injured, but has already captained Armagh this term and is loving life at Holm Park, with the loan deal due to last until the end of the season.

RESPECT

He said: "Obviously, I wanted to stay at Glenavon, but it wasn't going to work out, so last minute on deadline day I had a choice to make of a few teams. I spoke to Shea (Armagh manager, Shea Campbell), he sold it to me and I think I've made the right decision.

"I was disappointed with the way I was treated at Glenavon and in the end I was happy to get away.

"I feel loved again, Shea has been good to me, I want to play for him. There's a bit of mutual respect between the two of us and that wasn't the case at Glenavon."

So, what's next? "The immediate aim is to get back playing in the next month. Ideally, the situation would be to help get Armagh up to the Premiership, which would be a massive achievement. "I've another year with Glenavon and everybody knows I want to play at the highest level I can. I'll just have to do my best for Armagh and see where that leads us at the end of the season."

DRAMATIC

Incidentally, there were no mixed emotions during last week's dramatic League Cup clash in Armagh, won 8-7 on spot kicks by the hosts.

That's despite him being a lifelong Glenavon fan and still officially a Lurgan Blues player. Teggart said, with a laugh: "I was standing in an Armagh tracksuit and, definitely, at the minute I play for Armagh so there was only one team that I wanted to win!"
