Outstanding achievement award for trainer Ian

BALLYMENA trainer, Ian Ferguson collected the Hall of Fame for Outstanding Achievement Award at the annual Irish Thoroughbred Breeders [Northern Region] Racing & Breeding Gala evening at the Beechlawn Hotel on Thursday night.

The Cullybackey based trainer also picked up the Point to Point Handler Trophy sharing that award with Larne trainer, Stuart Crawford.

Ian, who in past seasons had been awarded the Leading Trainer Award, enjoyed a very successful season on the racecourse winning the Foxhunters at the Cheltenham Festival this year with Zemsky having three times seen former Champion Hunterchaser, Joe Blake been placed in the prestigious contest.

Simonsig was another high profile winner for the Mount Davys Stable when winning the Champion point to point Bumper at Fairyhouse in the Spring.

Ian said: “Zemsky is back in work but I do not expect to run him prior to the year new and better ground. The plan would be a couple of outings before attempting to win the Foxhunters again.

“I want to thank the ITBA organisers for this evening and am honoured and delighted by the awards,” he added.
