Over 100 runners take part in Portrush event

Saturday morning stayed dry long enough for the Portrush parkrunners to finish their weekly 5k run.

Although the tide was on its way out, enabling a beach start/finish, the sand was slightly soft in places and there was a firm headwind on the outward stretch which added to the difficulty.

The only visitor was from St Andrews , Scotland while Chris Denton, Davy Blair and Melanie Ford became the latest runners to complete their 100th parkrun.

First finisher was Keith Toman in a PB time of 18.19 with Springwells accomplished Chris Denton second in 19:18 and first lady ( for the 33rd time) Springwell runner and European Masters Age Group Duathlon Champion, the flying Sonia Knox in 20.41.

This week there were 104 runners, of whom 18 were first timers and 11 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of eight different athletics clubs took part.
