Pamela reduces handicap by two shots

The ladies took to the fairways on Tuesday to compete in the qualifying for the Carroll Cup.

Pamela Morrow produced the round of the day to cross the line with a nett 66.

Pam hasn’t been playing golf for very long, but has had no difficulty in making the adjustment from hitting a hockey ball to striking a golf ball and this fine score sees another two shots fall from an ever reducing handicap.

Week by week the younger ladies are making a return to our fairways and this week it was Niamh Ward who celebrated her homecoming by taking the gross with a five over 77 just beating Cara Murphy on the back nine. Niamh had three birdies including a two at the twelfth so it will be no time before she finds the run of the course and produces ever improving scores.

Cara’s 77 was good enough to take the top spot in section one with a nett 70. Cara played the first 12 holes in just one over par before she had a wee wobble on the way in but a great round of golf and it’s great to see Cara back to winning ways so quickly.

Georgie Hogan continues to play well and fresh from a win in the minor cup on Saturday she won section two with a nett 70. Georgie had a steady round with her highlight being a birdie at the eleventh. Claire White is enjoying a return to form and Claire won the section three prize with a nett 75. Claire had one bad hole early on in the round and made a great fight back to keep her score on track.

In the match play stages Georgie will take on Cara and Pam will play Niamh and we wish all the ladies good luck for their match.

The nine hole competition winner was Gillian Stevenson with 18 points and the other twos winner was Diana McClelland.
