Parke and Kearney goals take the ‘Toon past Trinity in Irish Senior Cup

The match got off to a shaky start with an organised Trinity side breaking into the circle within the first minutes of the game. The one on one situation was ably dealt with by new Ballymoney young star, Jodie Shannon.

This early threat was the wake up call the girls needed as only two minutes later Katherine Minihan broke through the Trinity defence and managed to get a shot on goal. Ballymoney continued to dominate the first half with their efforts being rewarded through the winning of several consecutive penalty corners.

Tori Hastings, another new promising ‘Money player, was unlucky not to convert following a great draw flick effort. Ballymoney were rewarded another penalty corner in the final minutes of the first half and this time they converted through Nikki Parke, making the score 1-0 at half time.

The second half began better than the first, the Toon girls were on top and pressing the Trinity defence successfully, thanks to the efforts of Nikki Cairns and captain Nikki Parke.

Trinity never gave up and continued to test the defensive expertise of Lynn McAuley, Bridget Cleland, and Lauren Steen who played key roles throughout the game.

The second, and final goal of the game, came from great team play by Tori Hastings who found Nikki Parke at the top of the circle, Nikki dribbled the ball along the back line and found Aine Kearney on the far post who slotted the ball into the net with ease.

The final score ended 2-0 to Ballymoney Ladies. The team would like to thank coach Angie Huey and team manager Liz Lamont for all their hard work and organisation .
