Start of play was held up for one and half hours because of the heavy frost but the delay did not effect Paul as he played a very steady game of golf throughout his round. He reached the turn with 22 points after scoring five pars, four single bogies and one no score.

He scored a further four pars and four single bogies in the back nine before hitting a no score on the last but still obtained enough points (20) to secure the victory.

Jim Hanna (27) was the player to lose out on the count-back and will regret the double bogie on the last. Jim scored 23 points in the first nine after scoring at every hole including three pars.

The back nine continued with something similar until the stroke index one 15th hole which ended with a no score. Single bogies at 16 and 17 and that regrettable double bogie at the last gave him 19 pts and a total of 42 points for the round to secure second place.

Last week’s winner Nichlaus Lavery (12), continued his great form scoring 41 points this week and winning third place.

With no less than 12 pars and two birdies Nichlaus could very easily have won this weeks competition but for the no scores at the third and seventh. Best gross was won by Ivor Harron with his round of 72.

Next week is the Lambeg Championship and is a stroke competition.
