Peacock's prove too strong for Coleraine Academy

RYAN Millar proved his worth as he grabbed six goals in a nine goal thriller in the North West Invitational Cup on Saturday.

The Bertie Peacock Under 14’s player, proved to be the star man as his side beat derby rivals Coleraine 9-0.

Saturday’s performance was spectacular, with every player in the team working together to achieve the victory.

Ryan opened his account with a fine individual run early in the game. He grabbed his second five minutes later after a good run.

Millar was the provider for the third goal, as Matthew Maguire got in on the action to make it 3-0.

Two more goals from man-of-the-moment Millar left the half time score 5-0.

With Berties well on their way to victory, several changes were made, Connor O'Hare had his first run out for Bertie’s after signing from Limavady.

Even with changes, the squad remained strong, and the pattern of play was not interrupted.

Millar scored two more, saving the best for last, when he flicked the ball over two defenders and into the corner of the net.

With the score now at 7-0, it was time for Luke Bacon to get in on the scoring action, he headed home a Turlough Connor ball. Luke was the provider for the final goal of the game, when Matthew Maguire grabbed his second and his side’s nineth to take the well earned victory.

The under 14’s now take on Inishowen this Saturday in the semi final.

The coaches would like to thank Andy Alcorn and the organisers of the North West Coleraine and District League for organising the competition, which is good preparation for this year’s Foyle Cup.
