PICTURE GALLERY; Ballintoy Fight Night a knockout success

MORE than 250 fight fans packed into the Carrick-a-Rede Hotel on Friday night for Ballintoy Fight Night.

The host club - Scorpion of Ballymoney - demonstrated the talent they have in their ranks by winning all but one of their bouts against the cream of the sport from across the province.

Scorpion coach Alan Martin was delighted at the turnout and quality of boxing on show.

"It was a great night," he said.

"There was a very big crowd as always and they all enjoyed the show.

"We won all but one fight and it was very harsh on the lad to lose as he hadn't been well prior to his fight.

"Apart from that everyone boxed well and a good night was had by all."

Best Boxer on the Night was awarded to Dylan Hanna who got a first win under his belt.

"Everyone was delighted for Dylan," said Alan.

"He has been training hard and is a good young boy.

"He has been coming out of his shell and is doing very well."

There will be no rest for Scorpion's fighters though as they prepare for next month's County Antrim novices for juniors.

Then in March the Irish Open Championships take place in Dublin.

One of Scorpion's biggest talents Sean O'Brien beat Tony Doolan from Glengormley last night in Belfast in the quarter final of the Ulster Seniors.
