Pierce Purcell team
into semis

THE highlight of the weekend at Ballycastle was the qualification of the Pierce Purcell team who will now meet Moyola in the regional semi-final to be played at Castlerock. It was a nerve jangling wait for team captain Gerry Norwood and his merry men as they snatched the fourth qualifying spot on count-back from Ballymena.

The withdrawal of Declan McCarry and Aiden Higgins meant that David Higgins and Liam McGonigle were promoted from the reserves to lead off for Ballycastle and they were in fact the most successful pairing of the five.

The other pairs were Liam Gallagher and Kieran Kelly, Paul O’Brien and Paul McCloskey, Allan McCook and Paul McKillen, Sean Brogan and Michael Dallat Snr. Congratulations to all involved on a day that was more suited to ducks than golf.
