Pigeon notes by Homer

AFTER almost two months of perfect weather conditions the weekend for the Bank Holiday was always going to be a test in making the correct call.

The Northern Ireland organisations were cross channel for the first time at Talbenny in South Wales. The NIPA reported a lot of rain in Wales early Saturday and no decision was expected before mid-day. The situation never improved and a Saturday release was ruled out. Sunday was a far better day, the only problem a fairly strong 11mph North West wind. The NIPA released at 9.00am and the leading birds into Mid Antrim took around five and a half hours for the approx 220 miles. Not all results were available when going to press early Monday. Not all the birds were home either.

From results at hand D & H Stuart from Ballymoney are best in the NIPA Sect B, their winner was timed at 14.57hrs flying 237 miles to record velocity 1168, they had 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Dervock.
